Organizational project and program management capabilities can be a critical differentiator in linking strategy to successfully delivering streams of benefits to enterprise stakeholders. These capabilities can also be challenging to create and maintain. We discuss approaches to building transformative capabilities in complex organizational settings using organizational project management (OPM), integration, and transformation frameworks. Development of these capabilities is illustrated using examples from U.S. government agencies as they respond to the strategic imperative mandated by the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA).

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Characterize and manage critical program/project management (P/PM) capabilities at the enterprise level,
2) Understand the application of OPM and other frameworks/methods to strategic transformation and the development of P/PM capabilities.
3) Strengthen the link between strategy and benefits delivery.
